This year, Chinese New Year falls on 16th February 2018. It is the most important date in the Chinese calendar and millions of people will be travelling around that time. In China alone, more than 100 million people will return to their families in the countryside to spend their New Year with them. Chinese people who live abroad return home for this special occasion while others use the time off for a short holiday.

It is a very busy time of the year and good planning is essential.

Let me share the best travel dates for the CNY period 2018, taken from the Feng Shui almanac.

To get home in time for the celebrations, the best dates to travel are:

Date Conflict Animal

(ie NOT a good day for this zodiac animal)

Friday, 2nd February 2018 Sheep
Saturday 3rd February 2018 Monkey
Sunday 4th February 2018 Rooster
Monday 5th February 2018 Dog
Monday 12th February 2018 Snake
Tuesday 13th February 2018 Horse
Thursday 15th February 2018

(Eve of CNY)

Monkey

During the 15 days of the Chinese New Year Period, the following are the most auspicious travel dates:

Date   Conflict Animal
Friday 16th February 2018 1st Day of CNY Rooster
Saturday 17th February 2018 2nd Day of CNY Dog
Saturday 24th February 2018 9th Day of CNY Snake

Tuesday 27th February 2018 12th Day of CNY Monkey
Wednesday 28th February 13th Day of CNY Rooster

It seems the Feng Shui winds are very favourable this year as there are plenty of good travel dates to choose from.

However, if you have to travel on one of the less auspicious dates, ie one of the dates not mentioned above, please carry a protective amulet with you.
