It’s that time of the year again! For Western people it’s Christmas, when you live in Asia it’s Chinese New Year – the biggest holiday of the year.
This year, Chinese New Year falls on 1st February 2022.
Millions of people would usually be travelling to be at home with their families for the festivities, but COVID has made this rather difficult. While some countries are slowly opening up their borders, other countries still have restrictions of various degrees and quarantine rules.
For those of you who ARE able to travel or are looking at travel possibilities at short notice, I thought I’d share the good travel dates for the CNY period with you, just in case!
To get home in time for the celebrations, the best travel dates are as follows:
Date | Conflict Animal (ie NOT a good day for this zodiac animal) |
Friday 21st January 2022 | Dragon |
Saturday 22nd January 2022 | Snake |
Monday 24th January 2022 | Sheep |
Tuesday 25th January 2022 | Monkey |
Wednesday 26th January 2022 | Rooster |
During the 15 days of the Chinese New Year Period, the following are the most auspicious travel dates:
Date | Conflict Animal | |
Wednesday 2nd February 2022 | 2nd Day of CNY | Dragon |
Thursday 3rd February 2022 | 3rd Day of CNY | Snake |

If you cannot avoid travelling on one of the less auspicious days, ie one of the dates not mentioned above, I would highly recommend you carry a protective amulet with you.
Safe travels!
