Description
Clare Haxby describes her “Emerald Lotus Buddha” as follows:
I have created a series of Buddha head paintings inspired by the many temples I have visited in Singapore and during my travels to Thailand, Bali, Laos and Sri Lanka. I am very drawn to painting them and at one point was painting nothing but Buddha paintings. I am using colours that resonate with the spirit and the chakra energy centres in the body, emerald and pink for the heart and purple or indigo for our highest spiritual self.
The Lotus Flower in the “Emerald Lotus Buddha” painting represents enlightenment and self-acceptance. The colour green resonates with the heart chakra where we connect with harmony and peace.

The Clare Haxby Connection:
I met British artist Clare Haxby when she lived in Singapore. It was one of her “open house” days when she would open her art studio, which was located in a beautiful colonial Black & White house, to visitors. I felt an immediate connection with her art. I loved the way she portrays some of Singapore’s unique landmarks in vibrant colours. Her Buddha collection and the Botanical series equally spoke to me.
The generous use of bright colours make Clare Haxby’s paintings and fine art prints ideal objects to enhance the Feng Shui of your home when you hang them in the “right” place.
The Feng Shui Connection:
Here in Asia, the Buddha is a very popular and much loved symbol of peace, serenity and wisdom. Figures and images of the enlightened Buddha take centre stage in many homes and public places.
Clare Haxby’s series of Buddha paintings all look very similar and I particularly like the “Emerald Lotus Buddha” for its calming green background and the addition of the purple lotus flowers. This actually allows me to visualize the Buddha sitting in a big field of tall grass dotted with purple lotus flowers!
This is a wonderful print to hang in your EAST sector, where it will help boost good health for all residents of your home.
Best Feng Shui Placement:
- In your EAST room, but not in a bedroom.
- In the EAST of your living room.
