October is blessed with the No 9 Star flying into the CENTRE of the chart, bringing with it prosperity and future abundance. Together with the annual No 1 Star it forms the powerful “Sum of Ten” and brings completion luck. October is therefore a great time to get things done! Projects that have dragged on or got stuck can finally reach a successful completion and plans you have been working on can work out the way you hoped. Focus on tying up loose ends and push important projects forward and you might well see your wishes turn into reality!
I highly recommend activating your CENTRE this month and spend more time there to harness these fabulous energies.
The SE is another very lucky sector with strong wealth luck, while creativity, study luck and romance are strong in the SOUTH. More positive energies are in the SW, with the monthly No 6 Heaven Star bringing recognition, support and helpful people into your life.
But, as always, there are also certain trouble spots and this October these are the NORTH, NE, WEST and EAST. These are the areas that need cures and ought to be kept quiet.
The Flying Stars chart below shows nine fields, each containing two numbers. The big number on the left of each field represents the annual star (red = afflictive, black = auspicious) and the smaller number on the right represents the current monthly star. These smaller numbers change every month and therefore create new energy patterns in your home and office.
If you are not yet familiar with the compass orientations of your home, then please use a reliable compass to take the directions. I recommend taking the compass readings as follows:
- Take one compass reading from your main door, looking out.
- Take another reading from the center of your living room, looking towards your balcony or picture window.
These two readings should enable you to determine the compass directions and locations of your home, so you can ascertain which stars fly into which area.
Please take particular note of the location of your main door and your master bedroom, as the stars in those sectors will affect you the most. For those of you who work from home, the location of your home office/work station at home is obviously also important.
SOUTHEAST (9/8)
The SE is one of the luckiest sectors this month, as the monthly No 8 Wealth Star joins the annual No 9 Prosperity Star. This combination supports financial growth and business success. Make sure you keep the SE of your home and/or office active!
Those with main door, (home) office or bedroom in the SE can benefit especially but of course everyone can activate their SE (just not in a bathroom or bedroom). For a successful outcome, business owners can hold their meetings and important discussions in the SE of their business premises.
To activate the wealth energies, you can display a Lap Chun Wealth Tree or the Water Dragon Faucet in the SE of your home and/or office.
To strengthen investment luck, you can display a Sky Bull instead.
SOUTH (5/4)
The energies in the SOUTH improve thanks to the monthly No 4 Star, bringing love and romance, study luck, creativity and good networking luck. Students, writers and creatives can benefit greatly from spending more time in the SOUTH this month. The same goes for those of you who are looking to attract a new love or are wishing to strengthen their existing relationship.
To activate the No 4 Star for love luck, you can display the Peach Blossom Peony Love Box in the SOUTH of your home and/or bedroom and carry a Double Happiness Love Talisman.
To give your studies, exam luck and creative success a boost, you can display a Saraswati Mini Plaque or the Swan of Saraswati in your SOUTH.
But remember that the annual No 5 Misfortune Star can still bring some dangers and avoid noisy renovations and noisy parties here.
SOUTHWEST (7/6)
Luck in the SW improves too, here it is thanks to the No 6 Heaven Star, which brings unexpected windfalls and opportunities and helpful people who can support you. This is a great sector for those of you who are looking to gain backing for an important project. Activating the No 6 Star can also help you strengthen your position at work. Spend more time here if you are trying to get your work/project noticed or if you are working towards a promotion.
In addition, you can display Ksiddigarbha on Chi Lin to help attract support and recognition.
However, the metal element is very strong here this month, which can lead to accidents and losses. Don’t place too many metal objects here this month and check on your cure for the annual No 7 Star.
EAST (8/7)
The luck turns in the EAST, as the No 7 Burglary & Loss Star flies into this sector and brings the danger of robbery, betrayal and financial loss. Be careful with your money this month and be careful who you trust.
If your main door is in the EAST or your house is facing EAST, you need to be particularly careful and strengthen the security of your home.
Place an Anti-Burglary Plaque or the Active Rhino & Elephant pair here this month for protection. People born in the Year of the Rabbit ought to carry a Peacock Feather amulet too.
CENTRE (1/9)
There is powerful completion luck in the CENTRE this month thanks to the monthly No 9 Prosperity Star joining the annual No 1 Victory Star and forming the most auspicious “Sum of Ten”. This is such a good combination of stars to have in the CENTRE of the home!
The “Sum of Ten” brings the momentum needed to get things moving again – plans that have gone sideways, projects that kept getting stalled, or deals you were not able to close. This October is the perfect time to act decisively on the things that are important to you, as it will be easier to transform your intentions into reality.
Make the most of this opportunity and activate your CENTRE space! Spend more time there and bring this area alive with activity and music.

The monthly Illness Star joins the annual No 3 Conflict Star in the WEST. This combination can cause irritability and stress and those who stay here are more likely to feel drained and tired. If your bedroom is located here, please make sure you get enough rest and avoid overworking yourself.
Display a Long Life Vase with Lingzhi or place a Sky Bat on your bedside table as protection against illness. The Sky Bat might be small, but it’s mightily powerful!
NORTHEAST (4/3)
Quarrelsome energy causes trouble in the NE this month and increases the likelihood of arguments and conflict. Small disagreements can easily escalate beyond control if you don’t keep your cool. Remember the mantra “Stay calm and carry on”!
To calm the energies, you can display the “Tai Kat Tai Ley” Apple Enhancer or Ksitigarbha’s Fireball & Staff in your NE, especially if this is your bedroom. Red accessories and peace symbols are also important here this month. For smaller NE spaces, the Peace Hanging with Red Tassel is ideal.
NORTH (6/5)
The monthly No 5 Misfortune Star puts a damper on the luck of the NORTH, as it brings obstacles, unexpected complications and misfortune of any kind. Plans that should be straight forward can encounter sudden problems. If your main door, bedroom or office is in the NORTH, please avoid taking unnecessary risks as there is a high danger of things going wrong. It is best to keep this area quiet, avoid excessive noise and activity and noisy renovations.
To subdue the Misfortune Star, you can add more metal element to your NORTH and place a Heart Sutra Pagoda.
NORTHWEST (2/1)
Things are looking up in the NW thanks to the No 1 Victory Star flying in this month and bringing new opportunities. The No 1 Star also brings success luck and gives you an advantage over your competition – ideal if you are job hunting or aiming for a promotion. If your main door, (home) office or bedroom is located in the NW, you can expect new doors opening and your projects gaining new momentum.
To activate, you can display the Fly on Monkey on Horse or a Victory Flag in your NW. This is particularly helpful for career- or business-minded patriarchs.
Remember the annual Illness Star though and those staying in the NW should continue to take good care of their health and work-life balance.
