Bathrooms and powder rooms always need special attention in a Feng Shui assessment because it is feared that all the drains in these places – and particularly the flushing of the toilet – could flush away the luck of the sector in which the bathroom or powder room is located.
So having a bathroom or powder room in the wealth sector could cause trouble to your finances!
I am facing exactly that situation in our new home in Germany. Both the powder room and the bathroom are in the SE, which is the sector connected to “Wealth & Prosperity” according to the Eight Aspirations formula of Feng Shui.
The powder room was originally all white – white floor tiles and white wall tiles all the way up to the wooden ceiling. While this would have been alright from a Feng Shui perspective, I wanted to do more than just “alright”. Plus, I didn’t like the original design of the powder room at all! So, the decision to fully renovate it was easily made.

The best recommendation to minimise the potentially negative energy of bathrooms and powder rooms is to harmonise their elements with their compass location; in our case the SE. The SE belongs to the wood element, so I chose a wooden vanity unit and green wall tiles to strengthen the wood element and added a bamboo toilet roll stand.
Another important aspect is the artwork. Something neutral is ideal and I decided on a print by Louise Hill (we have a few!), which we had framed in a matching green. I love the cheerful colour combination; it works very well here and really lifts the energy and the mood while the floral elements in the artwork further strengthen the wood element.

I LOVE how it has turned out! What do you think?
And one last note – although our powder room is in the wealth sector, this is not the place to enhance wealth luck. There are other areas in our new home that are better suited for that – luckily!
