There are many traditions and rituals associated with Chinese New Year. One of them is to look at the auspicious door directions on the Day of Chinese New Year.
Feng Shui Masters recommend to only open those doors that are facing a good direction! All doors that are facing a bad direction should be kept closed on the first day of Chinese New Year, even if that means you have to stay indoors all day or, as my master Lillian Too did a few years ago, take your family away on a holiday over the Chinese New Year period.
This year, Chinese New Year falls on Sunday, 22nd January 2023 and the auspicious door directions are as follows:
God of Wealth: | EAST |
God of Mentors: | NORTHEAST |
God of Happiness: | NORTHWEST |
If your main door (or even a secondary door) faces EAST, then it will be most auspicious for you to invite the God of Wealth into your home on the first day of Chinese New Year, coming from the EAST direction.
The inauspicious door directions are as follows:
5 Ghosts | WEST |
Death Door: | SOUTHEAST |
Wicked Ghost: |
WEST |
Remember NOT to open these doors during the 2nd half of the day on Sunday, 22nd January.
